Holy Week, the most solemn and joyous time of the Christian year, begins with our remembrance of Jesus’ triumphal entry into the holy city of Jerusalem on Palm Sunday. We use eco-palms, sustainably grown and harvested branches, to welcome our Christ. Maundy Thursday, which commemorates the last night of Jesus’ life and his final supper with his friends, will be a time for us to gather, have supper together, hear the story and celebrate the “last supper.” Good Friday, a solemn day in which we recount the events of the day Jesus was executed, will be marked with a hauntingly beautiful candlelight service of readings (the story of Good Friday), choral music, prayer and hymns. Easter, the Resurrection of the Lord Sunday, will our time to rejoice in the good news of Christ’s rising from the dead. An Easter Egg Hunt for children will follow worship.
