Lent begins this year on February 10th with Ash Wednesday, the day in which Christians around the world commence the journey with Christ that culminates with the triumph of Palm Sunday, the horror of Good Friday and the joy of Easter resurrection.
Our theme during the Sundays in Lent is Seeking Home and the Practice of Belonging. We will explore the questions of home, identity, exile and family, all within the context of our Lenten journey and the testimony of Scripture.
Ash Wednesday is our starting point. Our Service of Ashes at 7:30 p.m. is a traditional service of prayer, music, Scripture and the imposition of ashes as a sign of our pentitence and desire to walk with Jesus.
In the following Sundays up to Palm Sunday on March 20th, we will continue our theme in worship at 9:15 a.m.
We have available for Lenten devotion, copies of the Presbyterians Today devotional booklet, Be Holy. We also have a devotional written by Abby Mohaupt from Puente de la Costa Sur. Both are available on Sunday mornings.
All are welcome to journey through Lent with St. Andrew!
